San Rafael, CA, December 1, 2011 - Red Boy Pizza, home of the sour dough crust since 1969, announced that it will collect non-perishable food items at each of its six Marin County locations for the Marin Food Bank and two in Oakland for the Alameda Food Bank during the month of December.  All food items collected from the Red Boy Pizza Food Barrels will be donated to the Marin and Alameda Food Banks and distributed to those families in need this holiday season.

“Please join Red Boy Pizza as we provide the communities we serve with a place to donate to those less fortunate,” said Joseph Radwan, president of Red Boy Pizza. “Homelessness and hunger touches many families and we hope our contributions will make a difference this holiday season for the Marin County and Alameda Food Banks.”

The mission of a community Food Bank is to provide quality food, the most basic of all human necessities, to people who need nutritional assistance.  Some of the specific ways the Marin and Alameda Food Bank’s assists those in need includes:  providing emergency food orders for families experiencing short term and long-term crisis, providing bags of food for low-income seniors, and by providing holiday food boxes for needy families during Chanukah and Christmas.

“We are thankful for companies like Red Boy Pizza who help us collect food through the holidays when our needs are greater,” said Laura Gilbert of Marin Food Bank.  “We appreciate their efforts and so will many families this holiday season.”

During the month of December, at participating Red Boy Pizza restaurants, guests who donate at least one non-perishable food item to the Marin County or Alameda County Food Bank will receive a complimentary soft drink.
